The 911 Turbo S goes hybrid. Is that a bad thing?
The word “hybrid” can start an argument before anyone even looks at the car. The 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S gives that conversation something interesting to work with.
The confirmed numbers
Porsche announced a 701 hp T Hybrid system, all wheel drive and a claimed 2.4 second 0 to 60 mph time for the coupe using launch control. The setup uses a 3.6 liter flat six, two electrically assisted turbochargers and an electric motor in the PDK transmission.
Porsche also reports a Nürburgring lap of 7:03.92, around 14 seconds quicker than its predecessor. Those are manufacturer figures, not results from a test here.
The bigger conversation
A quicker lap is impressive, but speed alone doesn’t settle whether a car feels better to drive. Sound, response and the connection behind the wheel still matter.
That’s what makes this release worth following. Electrification can be used to add performance, but enthusiasts will still judge the whole experience. Would a hybrid system put you off a Turbo S, or would you want to drive it before deciding?
