Mustang Dark Horse SC: more than a bigger blower

A supercharged 5.2 liter V8 in a new Mustang is going to get attention. But the Dark Horse SC has more going on than an engine swap.

What Ford has confirmed

Ford’s January 2026 announcement pairs that V8 with a seven speed dual clutch transmission. The SC was developed alongside the Mustang GTD and GT3. Its optional Track Pack includes carbon ceramic brakes, carbon fiber wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.

Why it matters

Big power is fun. Being able to brake, turn and keep the car composed is what makes that power useful. The SC gives Mustang fans another factory option built around the whole car, rather than just the horsepower number.

What’s the biggest draw for you: the V8, the dual clutch gearbox, or the Track Pack?

This is a look at Ford’s announced hardware, not a road test. Specifications and availability can change.
