Chevy ZR1X: Stars & Steel, without the usual stripes

The ZR1X already makes a loud statement. Stars & Steel takes a quieter route, using color, small details and a numbered plaque to make it feel special.

Chevrolet explained the design in July. The Corvette edition is limited to 250 cars across the lineup, from Stingray through ZR1X. That does not mean 250 ZR1Xs.

The two combinations are Black with satin black stripes and an Adrenaline Red interior, or Arctic White with satin silver stripes and a Santorini Blue interior. Flag inspired graphics, special sill plates and black exhaust tips finish the theme.

There is a community element too. Chevrolet says each vehicle in the wider Stars & Steel collection brings a $250 donation to nonprofits supporting American veterans.

I would choose the black and red combination. It suits the car without making every surface compete for attention.
